An Open Letter to Risk Managers and Insurance Underwriters

Catastrophic risks present tremendous challenges to today’s corporate risk manager and insurance underwriters. In fact, several factors have recently increased the need for organizations to manage their catastrophic risks. Such factors include global competition for market share, high levels of risk retention, and stock market expectations, and associated quarterly financial results. Allrisk Engineering helps risk management and insurance professionals keep pace with these challenges and expectations by identifying, quantifying and mitigating catastrophic and lesser risks through the use of tools such as business interruption flow charts, risk analysis and policy coverage evaluations.

If you have an “allrisk” property insurance policy you need an “allrisk” risk assessment. An assessment done by an experienced professional working directly and expressly for you. To discuss your risk assessment needs further, please contact:

The Survey and Report

As professional consultants we believe that a professional survey starts with sending the right consultant(s) and providing the client with a well-defined scope of survey and agenda. Depending upon the nature of the site one, two or even three (very unusual) consultants will conduct the survey. Typically, we send two consultants.

Our first step is to learn the business. We do this by meeting with both production and financial personnel. Then, and only then, do we physically review site operations.

One Risk Engineering Consultant will concentrate on mechanical integrity programs, production bottlenecks and utility assessments while the other Risk Engineering Consultant concentrates on process safety, fire protection and business interruption.

At the end of the survey a presentation of any and all risk mitigation findings is made to site management. Together the two Risk Engineering Consultants will write and submit an electronic draft copy to the client within 30 days.

The Allrisk Engineering Property Insurance Report has three sections:
  1. The Loss Prevention Section covers risk mitigation findings, loss prevention initiatives, and equipment testing results.
  2. The Underwriting Section is a comprehensive description of the on-site business and the perils potentially affecting it.
  3. The Financial Section reviews and summarizes insurable values and presents clear, concise loss estimates. Three Fire and Associated Perils loss scenarios are submitted along with two Boiler & Machinery loss estimate scenarios. If applicable, a Natural Hazards loss estimate scenario will also be done.
Survey scope and the format of report can be easily customized to enhance the value of the service being provided.
